What is Molluscum Contagiosum?

Molluscum Contagiosum is a viral skin infection that appears on the top layers of the skin and causes small bumps to appear. The condition is generally considered to be quite a mild skin condition and is virtually painless in most cases.

A person infected with molluscum contagiosum will generally present small pinkish bumps on the skin or small painless lesions that persists over time.

Causes of Molluscum Contagiosum:

Being a viral infection, the causes are generally close contact between another infected people, or in some cases the virus may survive on the surface of an item of clothing, and can be transferred from there.

How is it treated?

In many cases, treatment is not required and a healthy person’s immune system will take care of the virus naturally. Where a person suffers from molluscum contagiosum in conjunction with another skin condition, treatment is sometimes warranted
