Hives Treatment
What are Hives?
Hives are an allergic reaction that is visible on the human skin after exposure to an allergen of some kind.
Symptoms:
The skin appears red and raised, and can become itchy and sore.
Causes of Hives:
Hives are caused by an allergen, usually from a person’s natural environment such as plant matter and pollen. It can also be caused by certain foods and also some synthetic materials that can be used in manufacturing clothing.
How are Hives diagnosed?
Hives are usually diagnosed based on their appearance. Because hives are the result of an allergic reaction, it is important to determine the precise cause of the reaction and to avoid coming into contact with that allergen again where possible.
How are they treated?
Over the counter medication is used to focus on reducing the symptoms, and doctors often prescribe an antihistamine to combat hives.
